The Internet has become such a great part of our everyday life that having your personal site is like having your own room in the apartment. Thousands of companies and even common people place information about themselves in the Internet. Is it that good?

 On the one hand – yes, it is, especially for teachers. We can collect all necessary information in one place and share it with other teachers as well as acquire some bits of knowledge from other people. By all means it’s your personal professional growth. Besides, you can arrange the material for the students in that way that can be interesting and useful for them – especially for those ones who have to stay away from classes for some reason.

 However, creating a website takes a huge amount of your spare time. Do we have a lot of it? That’s why we keep working on our computers instead of communicating with our families or depriving our organism of some ours of sleeping. Moreover, long hours in front of the computer do not benefit to your health and fitness.

 Nevertheless, we do create our websites; spend much time thinking about what kind of information to add there and we feel extremely happy when students tell you that with the help of your site they managed to do this and that; when their parents express gratitude for the information they have been looking for…. And you feel that your work is not in vain.

Everybody knows that the Internet is very important in the life of a modern teacher. Everyone has a chance to create his/her personal site. Just try to ask yourself: “What role does a personal site play in your life? Is it a good idea to spend more hours a day surfing the net and being in touch with your students even after school?” These are the questions we should answer. And the most striking thing is that the answer will be different for everyone.

On the one hand, one may think that having a personal site is an excellent opportunity. For example, you can share your ideas with your students and even communicate with their parents when you are at home as they spend much time in the internet. That is why this is a good way to raise motivation of your students and be an up-to-date teacher.

On the other hand, if you have your personal site, you should know that it is a great responsibility and even a burden for you. As a result, you spend much time in the Internet, doing harm to your eyes. Moreover, you should work hard always creating different tasks and new thing for you students.

Actually, you shouldn’t think only about difficulties, but also about the results of your work. If you do everything the right way, your students will appreciate you. And this will be the best award for you.

To sum everything up, we should say that a personal site is just a necessity in our life and a real need for teachers. There are many examples of people who have their educational sites. And now the question is still open for you: “Would you like to have your personal site?”

Are you an extravert? Are you Internet addicted? Do you have a spare hour every day? If you answer yes, yes, and yes, you definitely should have a personal site. Otherwise, you had better weight the pros and cons before you press the SETUP button.

The good news is you will definitely enjoy the opportunity to share your brilliant ideas, unforgettable experiences and deep feelings. You will also promote yourself as a professional and gain a better chance to motivate your students. I remember having got eight e-mails from my students immediately after they were allowed to post me their home tasks instead of bringing them to school on paper. No wonder teenagers will be exited by the opportunity to visit your personal site.

The trouble is, they will soon get bored unless you add new rich content and improve the design regularly. Here comes the main difficulty with being a site host: you have to work on it harder and harder. Moreover, the better it is, the more you want to perfect. Finally, you can find yourself quite exhausted by the enterprise which started as a game and now is backbreaking work.

So rather than starting the project, think twice. Are you still eager to make your students’ lives happier? To inspire them, not just to teach? Are you sure? It is really worth doing then. At least, I strongly believe it is.

Firstly, many people maintain personal web pages because they are the most effective medium to express their opinions that, otherwise, simply would not have an outlet.
Secondly a great number of people and business create and run websites because they are considered crucial to successful businesses nowadays, offering an assortment of advantages to help businesses become more widespread and profitable.
What is more, websites can be a useful tool of education. Teachers can help pupils with homework and post assignments, tests or quizzes. Sites also serve to foster teacher-parent communication. Parents can ask questions without having to meet teachers face to face.
On the other hand, some users are worried about date theft and viruses. The problem is that many people give too much personal information that may be passed to third parties for different purposes. However you can protect your privacy by choosing who can view your profile or contact you.
To sum up, the Internet is rapidly spreading globally, along with the number of people who want to create a site of their own.

It has been a contradictory  question  lately: to have or not to have a personal site.
Some people, especially the young ones, are strongly for it, they can't even imagine themselves without computer chats, blogs, sites and other electronic means of  communication. While others are against, they think  that technology penetrates too deep in the sphere of personal life. On the one hand, personal sites  give great opportunities for getting and sharing information. You can easily connect anyone everywhere in the world. Sites are necessary for some people as a part of their professional activity, for instance, for businessmen and even for us, teachers. A personal site is a place where we can store the most useful and interesting material needed in language teaching and studying, moreover, we can invite others to see and use it too. "Two heads are better than one!", and what to say if there are  much more heads than two?
But on the other hand, personal information needs to be protected, as too many different people have access to it when it is published. Besides, it can't be argued, sometimes it is difficult to understand the other person's words if you don't see his eyes and don't hear the intonation of his voice. So, it is very important to use only correct words and phrases.
As for me, I do want to have my personal site, firstly, it is the demand of time and secondly, it is so exciting to learn new things!

Nowadays a good teacher needs to be a confident user of computer technology. You are facing technologies practically in every sphere of your life, and practically every person from little children to the elderly is using computers in his everyday life. I use computer and the Internet every day and for different purposes: to communicate with my relatives and friends, to collaborate with the colleagues – English teachers from other cities and countries, to get materials for my work. So I dare say I’m an advanced Internet user and I can evaluate the pros and cons of such an interesting web instrument as a personal site.

I should say a personal site has quite a number of advantages. Firstly, you can use it as a personal portfolio where all your materials,  achievements, publications are gathered in one place. You can share your thoughts and ideas on different topics with other teachers and your students. So, the second function of a personal site is a means of communication. You can use it as a bank of articles, links to interesting resources, lesson plans, etc. And it serves as a data storage  for you. As for the cons of a personal site, I can mention the only one concerning some technical problems, such as low internet speed.

Of course, there may be some fear of creating and using a personal site with the people who are just beginners in the web but the devil is not so black as he is painted. I wish everyone good luck in our wonderful journey through the World Wide Web.

My personal site… Some years ago I couldn’t think about it, I couldn’t imagine that I would be able to create my own personal site. This word sounded as something fantastic and unreal for me. In the Internet I saw many personal sites last time. Some of them were wonderful, very useful and helped me in my work to prepare for my lessons. I appreciated people, who created such sites. But sometimes I felt a great disappointment. Why do teachers create sites which are absolutely useless, have nothing interesting for lessons? What makes teachers have their own sites? Do I need it? Why? Would my site express my individuality? Such questions and many others came to my mind, did not let me work “as usual”. And at last I understood that I am “ready”. I want to share my experience to other colleagues. I want not only to see successes of other people but to show results of my work too. That`s why I decided on creating my site. Sometimes it was not easy, I spent many days working without any help. But now I am proud of my site and my only purpose is to be useful for others. But I should say that with my personal site I got not only the opportunity for my creation but a lot of troubles. The first and the main one is shortage of time. But I don`t regret having it.

It's important to never post something that you might be afraid will come back to you.

Creating a Website. Pros and Cons. I could hardly ever imagine that someday I'll be creating my own website and that I'll have an opportunity to get in touch with people all around the world. But everything is changing, you know... I strongly believe that there are a lot of people who see great perspectives in having a personal website. I am one of them. Firstly, it seems to me that your website is a good chance to share your ideas, experience and teaching practice with your colleagues, students and people who are interested in it. Secondly, the process of site making is rather challenging and exciting like any other thing that is still unknown. On the other hand, to run a site properly you are to have necessary IT competencies and be computer-friendly. Moreover, you should always think over its contents to make it informative, interesting and attractive to meet different tastes and demands. You must be aware of what is going on and it's not easy, I suppose. Nevertheless, if you are not going to lag behind your students who are, in fact, more computer literate and to broaden your horizons the only way out is to create your personal website.

From my every day experience and observation I can state several factors, which defend the statement that with the help of technology, teachers and students nowadays can learn more information and learn it more quickly. I say about personal site. It has its advantages and disadvantages.

First of all, creating my own site will enable me to post important information and extra materials online. Personal site can be important tool for sharing useful information and tips among colleagues, dispersing information to students, or keeping in contact with parents. I understand that a teacher's site has to be informative but also entertaining. I think a teacher's personal site can be a perfect example of education and entertainment. But a teacher's site must not be too entertaining because its main goal is still to educate.

To my mind creating a personal site is not very difficult. The most difficult part of it is to maintain your site and spend enough time on it to make it interesting and informative. It means you will have to surf the Internet to choose proper illustrations, consult an online dictionary to find the definition of a word, etc. It takes time and effort.

To summarize, I think a teacher's site makes language studies more efficient and it helps you "inspire, motivate, change the world".
