Personal Site: For and Against

We live in the age of high technology. No matter whether we want it or not modern means of communication have become an integral part of the present-day society. Teens spend a lot of time surfing the Net, using ICQ and SKYPE. As a result, the question is: should teachers be up-to-date or should they keep old traditions?

As far as I'm concerned I believe that teachers of the 21st century can get a lot of advantages of new technologies. First of all, we mustn't know less than our students or at least we should try to be at their level, otherwise we can't be called TEACHERS. Secondly, modern technologies will make our lessons more interesting and useful as our students can gain more necessary information while the preparation for the lesson will take less teacher's time. Thirdly, self-education for teachers as well as sharing the experience is a demand of time. So, the Internet is a great helper here. We can take different distant courses and stay at home, we can upload and download plans of the lessons so that our colleagues would use our mateial in their work.

So, all these advantages as well as many others may be found in a Personal Site of a teacher where he or she may express his/her personal views on different pedagogical problems, share his/her experience, use it in his/her work with students. All in all, personal site is a time requirement with a lot of advantages and the absence of disadvantages.

Personal site - for and against

I constantly ask myself if I really need such a site. And the answer is "Yes!" Why do I need it? Of course  not to boast about myself and my work. 

I live in the Far North of Russia and the weather doesn't often allow the pupils come to school. They have to stay at home. And we lose the precious time of the lessons. Some pupils are very interested in studying English. So my site can help them to work and do some exercises to improve their level of knowledge. It's the first advantage.

I have been working as a teacher for a long time and have many useful materials which can be helpful for my younger colleagues. So I can download them onto my site instead of having them on my computer. It's the second advantage.

There are many different olympiads and contests which are held in distant way. I would like my students to know about them. So I can give this information on site. This is the third advantage.

There are some points against having a personal site. And the most important is the lack of time. The site should live, it should constantly have new and interesting information. And it demands a lot of time. But I hope to cope with this problem. 

To sum everything up I can say that I DO need my personal site  and I will have it.

Социальные сервисы в работе учителя

Закончила работу по выполнению заданий второго этапа мастер-класса. С удовольствием поработала с новыми сервисами (хотя ради справедливости надо заметить, что Lino It мне уже знаком по работе в других мастер-классах).  Посмотрела на Wallwisher, зарегистрировалась на нем и оставила самопрезентацию. Понравилось, что сообщения, как и в Twitter, должны быть короткими - ограничение в знаках. Не понравилось, что можно добавлять картинки, видео только ссылками из Инета. Но в то же время уже подумываю над тем, как я буду использовать это в своей работе. Идеи уже есть, хотя и не до конца оформившиеся.

А вообще сделала следующее:

6. скачала предоставленные материалы, приступила к изучению.

Социальные сервисы и Веб 2.0. 1 этап Регистрация и анкетирование.

Работать интересно, хотя и сталкиваюсь с трудностями.

1.    Прошла регистрацию и заполнила Входную анкету

6.    Результаты в «Анкетере»  экспортировала легко
7.    Результаты в «Гугл»  экспортировала, но было трудновато.
8.    Запись в блоге  тренинга  пыталась сделать, но что-то не получилось – не вижу ее., хотя и сохранила.

9. Ответила на вопросы 3-х анкет.
