The latest advances in information technologies make it possible for computer literate specialists to create their personal sites in the Internet. Although personal sites have not been widely accepted yet, they have certain advantages over traditional forms of professional interaction. But will they be able to replace conferences, seminars and subscriptions?

At first glance, online professional exchange provides an easier and more comfortable way of obtaining knowledge, sharing ideas and getting response. In addition, teachers have greater flexibility in their schedule and can work  at their own pace, taking time when they need it. What is more, a personal site is a convenient up-to-date form of organizing your professional methodological bank. Besides, it is a unique chance to make friends with like-minded people worldwide.

 However, online cooperation lacks personal interaction, which promotes  the open exchange of ideas as well as getting emotionally involved. Another argument is that running the site on a regular basis is time consuming. What is more, getting computer literate requires a lot of efforts. Finally, enthusiastic people can become computer addicted and lack happy walks in the countryside as well as socializing with their nearest and dearest. As the proverb goes,"Every coin has its reverse".

To sum up, virtually every technology has its pros and cons. I believe we should learn how to make the best use of the website technology for the benefit of effective teaching.

     На сегодняшнем этапе развития методика иностранного языка все более ориентируется на развитие творческой речи учащихся, на обучение адекватному выражению сложнейших мыслей применительно к условиям и участникам общения, а не просто речевое реагирование и речевое приспособление к коммуникативной ситуации. Обучение должно быть организовано так, чтобы ребенок добывал знания, а не получал их для запоминания в готовом виде, чтобы он овладевал навыками и умениями в результате своего труда. Одним из таких приемов, отвечающим многим из этих требований, является прием драматизации.

Having a personal site is actual nowadays. As for me I think it is important to correspond to requiremets of one's life time. That is why having a personal site is useful and even necessary for modern teacher. But it has its own advantages and disadvantages. 

One of the main advantages is that a teacher can choose the most useful sites for his/her students and place them at personal site. Some students need more information than they can get at the lessons. So, a teacher can suggest them more information and exercises, on-line tests, sites for downloading, etc. 

But there is a disadvantage of lack of time. Another disadvantage is a difficulty of choosing sites that are really useful for students. More than that it is necessary to choose them not according to the educational information, but according to the ads they consist. 

Nevertheless, I think a modern teacher should have his/her personal site. The aim of it is to make his/her work more effective, to introduce the information about teacher's achievements and so on. So I for one who wants to have a personal site.

“To create or not to create a personal website” sooner or later each teacher meets such a question. Surely, there are advantages and disadvantages of creating your site. The great minus is that you must post a lot of personal information. But the plus is that you choose yourself what information to post. The other minus is that it takes much time. The plus is that nobody makes you stay days and nights at the computer posting information.

Let’s discuss the other advantages of the personal website. People will learn more about you, you can communicate with people all over the world if you wish, you can share information with your colleges and students.

So you should make up your mind weather to create your site or not. And if you think that it worth it then do it.
