Today a folktale is not a wrecked monument of the remote past; but it is a bright and living part of our national culture. It gives children pride in their own heritage and builds their self- esteem, encouraging respect for other cultures. The students study English – speaking cultures, comparing them with their own, and practising behaving in foreign ways which provides them with a cross-cultural experience. Such knowledge can spark students` interest in values across cultures and deeper cultural knowledge
