My dear Mother
I live in Russia, Tomsk Region,
In village Volodino, far to the North-West.
Thirty years ago I came to this village,
And I think, that it is the best.
But I was born in another village:
“Monastyrka” is my native village’s name.
It is not big, but has a good image:
People brought to it honor and fame.
My dear mother was also from here,
Where she lived during all her life.
The most beautiful place in Siberia
Taught her to be the best mother and wife.
She has been teaching me everything since my birthday:
To be kind and to help all people around.
To respect them not only on holiday
And not only in spite of their background.
My mum wanted always to be a teacher,
But she couldn’t become it because of the war.
Her second daughter did. It’s a pity.
I’m proud of her more and more.
I am also a mother and a grandmother now,
Having 3 grandchildren and 3 sons-very kind.
And I’d like to say: “Thank you, mum. How…
How much have we lost, when you died”.
