The World of Love
"No one in the world can take the place of your mother…” (Harry S. Truman)
“Hello, my Mom! I know you missed me, dear.
Forgive again and give a kind smile.
We are alone; no one is near here…
I’ve come to you, my darling, for a while.
Of course, I ought to visit you more often
To share my affairs at a go
In order to make private problems soften …
‘A fault confessed is half redressed’, you know.
Why are you silent? Here are the flowers;
They are so tender, beautiful and fresh!
I hope they’ll keep on living for some hours.
You’ll catch the subtle fragrance in a flesh…
Who is to blame I have no chance to kiss you,
To cuddle up against your gentle cheek,
To whisper in your ear ‘I do miss you!’?!
The hopeless thoughts have made me badly sick…
You didn’t see when I became a mother
And didn’t hold grandchildren on your knees…
Just think they are the adults! You would rather
Communicate with them today at ease!
I greatly wish my children knew you better.
They were deprived of their granny’s heat.
And it is not a bit a laughing matter…
You would have helped to put them on the feet.
I’ll soon be at the age you went forever…
No one but God knows how my grief is deep.
The separating distance let me never
Find out so much strength to take a leap…”
. . .
The even number of the freshest flowers,
Despondent hush, Mom’s image on the stone
Develop isolated world of ours…
The World of Love which I forever own!
