St. George Ribbon
To wear St. George Ribbon in May
It’s the modern symbol today.
But we mustn’t dress it for fashion
We are grateful our granddads for patience.
They shown on that difficult time
Defending our Motherland against the crime.
The crime the fascist Germany proclaimed
Where millions of people lay.
The Battles of Kursk and Stalingrad
Where the skies were red
From blood of soldiers young and old
Their courage had not been sold.
The ground was burring under their feet
And now here are modern streets.
Unfortunately, sometimes we don’t know
The heroes of that terrible war.
When different war films we saw.
And someone is trying our history to rewrite
And we have to say them they aren’t right.
Now we live under peaceful sky
And someone may ask me a question
Why?
Do we know the names of heroes
Carved on the monuments and why
Must we put them roses.
I say you.
History doesn’t forgive the mistakes
That sometimes our manking makes.
And now I can say you at last
There is no future without the past.
St. George Ribbon …
Remember its meaning
Before putting it on.
