I like to write about English slang on my blog because it adds colour to our language and is particularly interesting in terms of lexical change. New slang words and expressions appear in English every day, but little is written about this topic in textbooks because it is non-standard language.

However, I believe that if you want to understand modern films, music and the mass media, then you should make an effort to, at least, understand English slang (even if you choose not to use it yourself).
