One Russian soldier.

A victory war has come to the end;
Those years are now so far.
Medals, awards brightly burn
On soldiers’ breast like a star.

One wears soldier’s medal
For their brave in fights,
One gets awards for labor feat
In a land of native lights.

This story was in May at sunrise,
Fight’s beginning at walls of Reichstag.
I see one girl who’s crying alone on road,
As if a butterfly in a bloody ice…

At a column, shivering, she stood;
Child’s eyes were full of fright,
Metal bullets, weapons whistle
Death and pain she saw and no light.

Suddenly my little daughter I remember,

And it seemed to me it was she.

Stood with crying mouth,

On a dusty roadway, near me.

Under Berlin bomber shooting,
Russian courageous soldier crept,

Girlish body in light dressing
Carefully, took her out from this war.

Now, many children have a joyful childhood,
Lot of pleasure and smell of happy spring.
Thanking Ordinary Soviet Army,
People, who glory and victory bring!

Even Berlin, in this bright day
Built for him a monument,

As a memory of Soviet fighter
With the little girl on hand.

And we proud by this glory symbol,

It protects the world on all the earth.
He is an ordinary Soviet soldier –
Like a person of a peace and truth!
