To have or not to have? That is the question. Certainly, to have. The answer to this sharp question appeared some time ago and lot of teachers started to design their personal sites. Having a site they demonstrated their professional competence and ability to work on a computer. As far as I know many of them gave up their sites in the Internet space after they had got a confirmation about their high professional level. I don’t say if that is good or bad. Everyone has a right to choose.
Nowadays teachers are very aware of computer technologies. Many of them have their own sites. This kind of site plays a role of portfolio showing teachers’ progress. You can find curricula, lessons’ plans, articles, copies of diplomas, certificates, photos and other various information about teacher’s work. Thus, teachers present their own way of teaching and students, their parents are able to learn about the teacher’s style of working. Also a site helps teachers to keep and use materials wherever a teacher is. Moreover, a teacher can use his/her site to organize distant activities, for instance, contests, quizzes, festivals for schoolchildren.
Another category of modern teachers appeared: they organize work of their sites as an area of professional collaboration but, in my humble opinion, it demands a lot of time and energy. Any site takes your precious time, you need renovate information, add materials, answer the questions, promote it and attract the professional attention of your colleagues.
